Yoram Ish-Hurwitz is an experienced cultural leader and strategic advisor with a strong track record in artistic direction, organisational development and cultural governance. He combines an artist’s perspective with the ability to formulate a clear vision, build effective partnerships and translate ambitious ideas into viable programmes and organisations.
As founder and Artistic Director of Oranjewoud Festival, Yoram has guided the festival’s development since 2010. His responsibilities encompass artistic strategy, programming, fundraising, sponsorship, partnership development and the creation of innovative projects. Under his leadership, the festival became a prominent cultural event and was selected as a flagship project of Leeuwarden-Friesland European Capital of Culture 2018.
Yoram also works as classical music programmer at SPOT Groningen and Senior Artistic Advisor to the North Netherlands Orchestra. These roles draw on his ability to connect artistic quality with institutional priorities, audience development and practical implementation.
His advisory experience includes serving on the Dutch Council for Culture and chairing national committees responsible for evaluating and monitoring publicly funded music ensembles and choirs. He has also assessed cultural grant applications for two provincial authorities and has served on juries for numerous competitions and professional awards.
Trained as a concert pianist in Amsterdam, New York and Hannover, Yoram has performed internationally for more than three decades. This extensive artistic practice gives him an informed understanding of artists, institutions and audiences. As an independent executive or advisor, he offers strategic insight, decisive leadership, creative problem-solving and a collaborative approach to complex cultural and organisational challenges.
