Oranjewoud Festival is the only festival in the world where famous musicians sit at your bedside to play you into sleep, where you can talk to your neighbour during a silent concert and here you can literary float away on the music. And don't forget the enchanting Garden of Delight. There you can picnic in the grass, listen to music beneath the trees, leapfrog each other. eat, drink, laugh and relax.
International concerts at exceptional locations
During ten days the Park landscape of Oranjewoud is the beating heart of Leeuwarden Europan Capital of Culture 2018. Top musicians from all over Europe go down here to give concerts from morning glow until late at night. In beautiful gardens and historic country houses, but also in tipi's, an underground bunker and giant plastic bubbles.
In 2010 Yoram Ish-Hurwitz was appointed artistic director of Oranjewoud Festival. Since its first edition in 2012 the festival grew from 450 to 15.000 visits making it one the most important classical music festivals in the northern region of the Netherlands. In 2018 the event is part of the main programme of Leeuwarden European Capital of Culture. It will then take place from 1 to 10 June 2018.
